Recent Oil Spills - Michigan
Robin Oeming, a senior environmental quality analyst for the Department of Natural Resources and Environment’s Bay City office said the Michigan Public Service Commission estimates that 4 percent of the 4.5 million households in Michigan, about 180,000 homes, are using heating oil in various size tanks both above and below the ground. The Michigan Petroleum Association puts the number closer to 6.8 percent of the population, or more than 300,000 households.
RICHLAND TWP. — What Phyllis Meek and Angela McCartney thought was a small problem has turned into an environmental nightmare that they fear could end up costing them a quarter-million dollars. Meek had acquired the property from her grandparents in 2005. They owned it since 1976 and had the land declared a wildlife sanctuary with a conservation easement that prohibits excavating, cutting down trees, subdividing or harm to the environment. So she called K & D Industries, 2962 Venture of Midland, a company that handles environmental and ecological services. The restoration company is treating possessions from the farmhouse for oil contamination and fumes. She worries about the remaining fumes on the site soaking into the plaster and wallpaper because it poses a neurological risk.

In such situations, use of VaporRemed and AgroRemed could help such home owners in cleanup at a reduced costs as the treatment is at the site itself and both the property and the house could be restored with minimum disturbance to the environment.
