1. Heating Oil spill in South Jersey: A fuel oil delivery truck overturned here on Route 45 just north of Mannington Meadow Friday afternoon, spilling a considerable amount of oil on the roadway, officials said.

1. Heating oil spill in South Jersey(Feb 26, 2010): It is unknown at this time what caused the accident, but the Ross Fogg & Son Oil Co. truck reportedly flipped onto its side on the roadway. “It was a home heating oil truck,” said Jeff Pompper, director of the Salem County Department of Emergency Management. “We estimated that 500 to 1,000 gallons of fuel oil spilled out onto the surface and ran down both sides of the road.” Mannington Meadow is a vast, sensitive wetlands that runs through the heart of the county.

Our Comment:

The spill as described above can cause significant damage to the local environment as well as pose health risks to the personnel handling the spill in the form of fumes that can easily be eliminated using VaporRemed (as shown in the case study below).

The spill has occurred on a busy road alongside a wetland adding to the challenges to cleaning up effectively as excavation might not be a suitable option. Similar situation was encountered in West Virginia, although, in that case the challenges were the underground cable lines and the spill cleanup crew there, found that AgroRemed greatly supplemented their efforts and controlled costs. We believe that AgroRemed can be used in this situation as well to control costs.
